Picture frames are practically a necessity for any room nowadays. Did you know that the ideas of “Self” and “Consciousness” are fairly new terms? British writers in the 19th century as well as psychologists started to unearth the concepts in forms of art and science. In this post I’ll be explaining why picture frames are never going to get old and why they’re so popular.
First of all, as mentioned above, people love to show off who they are and what they represent. We all have embarrassing photos of us from childhood clutching a favorite toy or doing something goofy. Capturing who we are in the moment, in our essence, is special and best documented through photos. In the aforementioned case, the photos may serve as first date reminders of awkwardness as your parents point out various picture frames of you on the wall, missing teeth and all.
Secondly, picture frames are decorative items. Each time I go into a home goods store I’m always surprised at how few items there really are. With that said, those few actual items have 500 different colors, textures, and shapes. Ladies, you know what I mean. Well, the same is true for picture frames. They are a “token” decorative item, and there’s no shortage of kinds of frames, making them the perfect room accessory.
My third reason is the nostalgia benefits of picture frames. They give you a reason to pause for a few seconds out of the day and look at your mom or dog or whatever. Being able to give ourselves little moments like that throughout the day is important to us. In fact, it’s good for us and helps us balance mentally and emotionally.
Next, picture frames give us something to do and think about. Mentioned previously, there are so many different kinds of frames. With that said, there is always a photo to be framed. This was recently affirmed by studies done on the marketplace specifically for frame stores. I, for one, like browsing picture frames, imagining what photo I could put in the frame, where I could put it, etc. It’s just fun to be to visualize my space and what I can fill it with.
I like what this article mentions about picture frames being decorative items. It makes sense that using a picture frame could be beneficial for the cosmetics of the home. I’ll have to keep this in mind for anything that I might want to display as it’s one thing to set something on a table but having a custom frame made might take it to the next level.
That is a very true fact that people love to show off who they are and what they represent. Why else would we have pictures all over our homes? And some pictures just need custom frames to do them the justice they deserve.
Picture frames really are great. Like you said, they can be very artistic and decorative, and they just make a space look nice! We want to put pictures up our staircase wall, and I want some cool frames there.
I love how you mentioned that there are nostalgia benefits of picture frames. I am personally guilty of this as I still prefer looking at photos other than what’s stored digitally. It’s also good to know that it helps us balance mentally and emotionally.
